South Korean rapper CL of 2NE1 has dished his United States debut with the help of Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, which sparked rumors that the K-Pop quartet is disbanding.
"That's not true! We just finished our tour and everybody gets to take a break now. It's just I don't get a break," CL said in a recent interview with Complex.
After "Gangnam Style" hitmaker Psy, CL is Braun's first South Korean signee.
Although she is releasing her debut album in the U.S., CL said she feels like "it's all about good music at the end of the day" and it is not like she is a rookie because she has been "doing this for a long time in Asia."
"It's just a new market," CL said. "I have to have good music, so I'm just focusing on that."
In 2014, 2NE1 was featured in the U.S. edition of NYLON Magazine, in which the group's leader CL said they are "four crazy girls who are very different, but came together through our love for music."
"Our goal is just to put the best music out there possible. We don't focus on any one region or country. We do this for everyone," CL told the magazine. "We were confident with the results. But we didn't know how everyone would react to it."
2NE1 has not yet to release an English album yet but CL, Minzy, Dara, and Bom have already been exposed in the English market with collaborations with American rapper will.i.am and guesting in Tyra Banks' "America's Next Top Model."
