It has been almost 3 years since the release of "The Last of Us." Given that the game was a massive hit, fans of the action-adventure survival horror video game are eager to play its second installment, but it seems that its supporters may have to wait until 2018.

According to Game N Guide, a clue was already provided Nolan North that the game is in the works. However, he later clarified that he does not have any idea whether "The Last of Us 2" is indeed under development.

Recently, gamers have been speculating that Sony might have revealed the release date of the said video game. The rumor sparked after Sony listed a video game called "Days Gone" in December 2015.

Despite being listed as a new video game, fans have speculated that it is the sequel of the 2013 hit game. Meanwhile, Chatt Sports Net cited the rumors about Ellie killing Joel in "The Last of Us 2." The publication noted a possible motive for Ellie to kill her companion. It was said that Joel's action of eliminating the members of the Fireflies organization is the reason why Ellie might develop a grudge towards Joel if she finds out what really happened, given that the female protagonist has showed her desire on helping the organization to find a cure.

According to the same publication, the development of "The Last of Us 2" may have been paused to give way for the development of "Uncharted 4" DLC. It was also said that after the completion of the DLC, Naughty Dog will eventually resume working on "The Last of Us 2."
