People immediately assumed that a sequel for "Deadpool" would happen because of the after-credit scene that was featured, although it was too early to speculate anything back then. Ryan Reynolds also hinted about the making of a sequel when he posted an artwork made by a fan on his Instagram account.
Finally, Marvel has recently confirmed that a sequel for this block buster and not your typical superhero film, "Deadpool," is well on its way.
Ecumenical News reported that since the movie became such a hit, fans were expecting that the sequel would be out by 2017; however, the film's screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, thinks that a 2017 world premiere is not going to be feasible, especially because they are faced with the pressure of topping the first "Deadpool" movie. With that said, it is believed that "Deadpool 2" would be out by 2018.
During an interview with Reese and Wernick, both writers stated that they would make sure that "Deadpool 2" would yet again be a blockbuster hit. Other reason why the screenwriters didn't want to push through with the 2017 premiere date is because they want to make sure that the storyline of "Deadpool 2" would impress the fans.
Reese also stated that in order to give thanks to the fans undying support and for making "Deadpool" successful, they want to make sure that the fans would only be presented with nothing but the best.
Reese stated "We like to take our time, we're lazy screenwriters. ... Look, that's entirely above our heads, but we'll write the very best screenplay we can write if we're fortunate enough to get that sequel, and we'll write it as quickly as they tell us we need to write it. When they say jump, we say how high."
In other news, since the beginning of the production is set to sail next year, it's still unclear what the sequel would be all about; however, rumors claim that new characters would be introduced in the upcoming film.
Breathecast reported that the after credits scene revealed that Cable would be included in the sequel.
Now that "Deadpool 2" is confirmed, people are debating as to who would portray the role of Cable. A lot of names are actually circling around, wherein some says that award winning actor Liam Neeson is considered to play the role; however, according to some sources, the top pick actor for Cable's role is Kyle Chandler.
Although Chandler hasn't confirmed his involvement in "Deadpool 2," fans will just have to wait until Marvel confirms whether the rumor about Chandler portraying the role of Cable is true.
