There are speculations that the Waverider in "Legends of Tomorrow" might be getting a new captain. Rip Hunter might no longer be the leader in season two of the DC TV show.
Such news sparked after executive producer Phil Klemmer's interview with KSiteTV. He hinted that Arthur Darvill's Rip Hunter will not be that significant in season two of "Legends of Tomorrow." Further hinting that the Legends do not seem to need a boss, after all, he stressed that the Legends will make decisions together as a team.
"Whether Rip's there or not, the Legends have a bit of swagger. They've saved the friggin' world," Klemmer said. "Rip is certainly not King onboard the ship," He added.
It seems that viewers will witness how the Legends will keep themselves united without Rip Hunter in the second-year run of the show. Though the Legends did not listen to Rip most of the time, Klemmer noted that he was someone responsible for keeping them together.
"The interesting thing for us to explore is that Rip was clearly the glue that was holding our team together. It's like herding cats, and how do you herd cats when you've lost your captain?" He quipped.
Despite the likeliness that Darvill's Rip Hunter is stepping down as captain, the good thing is that he is not leaving the show. According to Showbiz Junkies, the 34-year-old British actor assured fans during a San Diego Comic-Con panel that Rip Hunter will show a lighter side in Season 2.
After noting that the Time Master has sadness that is already inherent within him, he said that despite everything has been through and despite his failures, he still has a lighter side. Darvill revealed that he was promised that Season 2 of "Legends of Tomorrow" will explore that side of his character.
And as for this new chapter in Rip Hunter's life, the actor says that he is very excited to see that.
Surely, fans are just as excited as Arthur Darvill. They can catch that different side of Rip Hunter and see how the Legends will fare without him as the leader when DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 premieres on The CW on Oct. 13.
