“Doctors” had ended, ‘W Two Worlds” would air its final episode on Sept. 14 and “Jealously Incarnate” had already started. All signs indicate that it’s about time for KBS to stop dreaming that "Uncontrollably Fond" would ever match the popularity of “Descendants of the Sun” in terms of audience rating.
The gods of KBS are finally heeding what viewers had been telling them about the lifespan of the drama starring Kim Woo Bin and Bar Suzy. In its Spoiler Alert, Inquisitr provided readers a peek at what would happen to the final episode of “Uncontrollably Fond,” hinting of a possible death for Shin Joon Young, played by Kim Woo Bin.
Shin Joon Young was diagnosed with brain tumor that progressed swiftly. Rather than undergo chemotherapy, he opts to live a healthy lifestyle and try instead experimental drugs. However, it did not work so he prepares for his end, with the final scene showing Shin Joon Young and No Eul, played by Bae Suzy, sitting on an outdoor bench.
He leans his on her shoulder, indicating he would fall asleep, while No Eul talks to Shin Joo Young briefly, but he no longer responds. While IBT India considers it “one of the most touching and emotional scenes to ever be shot for any K-drama,” the implication that he dies, followed by the next scenes showing his friends cleaning out his house all reinforce the idea but does not conclude he really died, making the conclusion open-ended.
However, while that style of ending, fairly common in Hallyus, brings out the question if KBS is planning a Season 2 for “Uncontrollably Fond” similar to “Descendants of the Sun.” In turn, that would lead to another question if viewers dipped after a few episodes, can a Season 2 generate new audience interest?
