The Korean military romance drama "Descendants of the Sun" was so successful to the extent that fans have been clamoring for the second installment. Rumors are rife about Season 2, with the latest suggesting that Lee Min Ho will be joining the cast.
It is reported that Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo will come back to reprise their roles as Yoo Si Jin and Kang Mo Yeon respectively. In addition, the much-rumored second installment will focus more on the family of the two lead characters.
There are speculations that Joong-ki and Hye-kyo's storyline will revolve around their struggle to balance life and their careers. The two characters will be torn between their duties as public servants and as parents. The on-screen couple might as well face difficulties with the safety of their children since the rumored upcoming sequel will be more hectic and bloody.
Apart from Lee Min Ho joining the cast, "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 will reportedly introduce other new characters, including the children of Jin and Yeon. The "Bounty Hunters" actor will join the South Korean Special Forces unit of Jin and he will reportedly fall in love with Yeon, after a brief meeting. The character's inclusion will seemingly make the second installment more exciting and action-packed.
Lee Min Ho will comfort Yeon after Jin gets lost in the midst of war in Season 2. While these rumors might be true, neither the on-screen couple nor Lee Min Ho has made confirmation. Rumors about Season 2 started when Joong-ki and Hye-kyo were seen meeting with one of the "Descendants of the Sun" writers, according to Soompi.
Meanwhile, while Hye-kyo was absent during the Seoul International Drama Awards 2016 that took place on Thursday Sept. 8, her rumored real-life boyfriend represented the Korean war drama that took the world by surprise. Joong-ki won an award for the Outstanding Korean Actor, and during his acceptance speech and on the red carpet interview; he jokingly talked about Hye-kyo.
The actor might have unveiled the status of his relationship with Hye-kyo when he dished on the actress' generous gift to him when he was shooting "Battleship Island," according to a different report by the same publication. Hye-kyo reportedly sent him coffee during the filming, but Joong-ki corrected the reports.
Joong-ki said that the actress not only sent a coffee truck, but also a snack truck, adding that she is the best partner. Fans were left wondering whether these remarks were an acceptance that he and Hye-kyo are involved in a real-life love relationship. Here is footage for more information on "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2:
