In a recent interview, a former development staff admitted that the "Star Citizen" project is one of the "most ridiculous" he has ever worked on because of the poor leadership and micromanaging of its director Chris Roberts. Aside from this interview, there is also a number of staff who expressed their dismay over his leadership, which they pointed out as one of the reasons why the game has been delayed until now.
"Star Citizen" PC version started as a crowdfunding project which has been in development for five years now. Despite the financial support it received which amassed more the $124 M, it seems that fans are growing impatient already, as well as some of the development staff who are working behind Cloud Imperium Games.
The game was originally planned for launching in 2014, but due to the major changes and restructuring of CIG's studio, it was further delayed to the point that a final date for release has not yet been disclosed, Kotaku reported. Previous hires from the project claimed they experienced too much technical difficulties and expectations that were impossible to deliver.
Despite that, Roberts and some staff who remained developing the said game are still positive that they will be successful at it. They also did not deny the existence of such problems but contested its impact.
The crowdfunding idea was patterned after "Minecraft," a game which was successfully delivered to pledgers in 2011 after it was funded out of the people's own pockets. Roberts thought he could also develop a game that could be run by the same scheme. He thought of a space game that he could initially release an alpha stage before finalizing, the report added.
On the other, a recently released trailer of "Star Citizen" boasts an impressive Visual Stabilization system, PC Gamer reported. According to the report, the trailer seems to promise that it will be producing an "exciting, online sci-fi universe that people want to spend time in."
Currently, there are 5 dedicated studios for "Star Citizen," which are located in Austin, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Manchester and Frankfurt. As of the moment, fans who are hoping that the game will be released soon will have to watch out for announcements.
