When "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 returns, viewers wanted to know what will be the fate of Daya Diaz (Dascha Polanco) inside the prison. Whether she pulls the trigger or not to Correctional Officer Thomas Humphrey (Michael Torpey) amidst the cheering inmates, speculations that she will be sent to the Special Housing Unit (SPU) is highly expected after the riot.

Diaz, who is at the center of all the happenings in the Season 4 finale will be seen getting frustrated and losing her patience with the things happening around her. She is the victim of situations, and she will find it hard to change her fate. In "Orange is the New Black" Season 5, viewers can expect more screen time for Polanco's character as Diaz's journey continues.

"The boiling point has tipped over," Polanco told The Hollywood Reporter about Diaz. "She's in a dark place. She's been fighting it for so long and now there's no way of her fighting it."

Time is not good for Diaz, whose trials have started since Season 1. Polanco teased that "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 sounds darker than the previous season as there is a possibility that Diaz may pull the trigger due to her postpartum depression that made her more sensitive.

Diaz's agony inside the Litchfield Penitentiary is getting heavier each day after her mother Aleida (Elizabeth Rodriguez) left the prison. She feels that she is alone in the cell without her mom despite their odd relationship. She will continue to miss her daughter and John Bennett (Matt McGorry), who is nowhere to be found.

Fans think that Diaz's mini-series inside the penitentiary are too much for her to handle. There are rumors that Bennett may return in "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 to save her. It could be remembered that Bennett vanished after his proposal to Diaz when he was deployed in Afghanistan.

Whether there is a second chance between Diaz and Bennett in Season 5, viewers have to wait and see until the next premiere.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 5 may also see the death of one of the major characters. Spoilers say that Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) may likely die the next season.

Earlier in 2016, there were rumors that Season 5 will be the last for the show. However, a three-season renewal for the hit Netflix series was announced in June that means, the TV series will air until Season 7, according to Variety.

The renewal came after the show received the best comedy show and actress Uzo Abdua was awarded as the best comedy actress at the SAG Awards for two straight years. "Orange is the New Black" Season 5 returns in 2017.
