Another disappointing news for animated shows as "Archer" creator Adam Reed announced in a podcast that he aims to end the series in its tenth season.
Fans could also be outraged by the fact that Reed also wants to shorten the episode count down to just eight from the current 13. Reed said in Murmur podcast that "Archer" Season 8, 9 and 10 will only carry eight episodes if he has his way.
FX still has no comment regarding Reed's statements for "Archer" and they could still order 13 episodes for the following seasons. "Archer's" last three seasons would then only total up to 24 episodes if FX agrees with what Reed plans for the animated series, Gizmodo has learned.
"The plan is to end Archer after season 10. I don't know that anybody has talked about that, but that is definitely my plan - to do 8, 9, and 10 and they're gonna be each shorter seasons of just eight episodes - and then wind it up. ... I was gonna end it after 8, but then I had sort of a brain explosion of a way that I could do three more seasons and really keep my interest up. So the three seasons that are coming up are gonna be pretty different from what has come before, and they're gonna be different from each other," Reed said in the podcast.
"Archer's" seventh season finale saw the protagonist shot and seemingly lifeless in the pool, Cinema Blend reported. The show will still need to explain how "Archer" survives that shot or if it is really the real Archer found dead in the pool.
The show has evolved throughout the several seasons especially after the whole ISIS debacle. "Archer's" fictional spy service changed its name after the terrorist group ISIS became popular in the news.
"Archer" also moved from being just a James Bond spoof into its own show with unique plots as they took on becoming cocaine dealers and private investigators which was shown in the recent season. Archer Season 8 is expected to air in 2017 which is still a few months away.
