Actor Leo DiCaprio and U.S. President Barack Obama had a discussion on Monday about climate change, focusing on his documentary “Before the Flood,” which had its U.S. debut that night on the White House.
In the documentary, DiCaprio traveled around the world to find a human face on the threat of climate change. Obama, Pope Francis, Elon Musk, John Kerry and other personalities appeared on the documentary. The president is seen discussing climate change in front of the Washington Monument.
National Geographic Channels would air the documentary on Oct. 30. With them on the discussion was climate change scientist Katherine Hayhoe from the Texas Tech University. He said people who do not believe in climate change do not believe in facts and should not hold public office
The remark obviously was directed at politicians and candidates like Republican candidate Donald Trump who said climate change is a hoax China perpetuated. On hearing it, the crowd cheered loudly.
Obama replied that humanity is racing against time. He explained, “Climate change is happening at a faster rate than what was predicted even 5 years ago,” quoted Daily Beast.
Before the White House session, the actor was seen at the rooftop of the nearby Hay-Adams hotel where he was seen in a huddle with actor Morgan Freeman, celeb chef Jose Andres, director Ron Howard and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, reported Washington Post. Reznor wrote the score of the climate change documentary.
