Sony recently unveiled the new Alpha 6500 or A6500 prosumer mirrorless camera with upgraded specs and features including the new Fast Hybrid AF system.
DSLRs can be frustrating to use sometimes due to their complexity in both the software features and the hardware requirements. Sony has revealed their new A6500 prosumer mirrorless point and shoot camera to makes things easier while still providing the best quality possible for both photos and videos.
Sony A6500 Specs and Features
The Sony A6500 camera still has the same 24MP CMOS sensor the A6300 has but there are more features that still make it a worthy upgrade over the predecessor, Digital Photography Review has learned. In addition, the deeper buffer allows for shooting more than 300 JPEG frames during burst and Sony promises faster processing as users will be able to preview their photos even after shooting in burst.
For those users that love to capture photos during live events, the faster preview and more burst frames could prove useful. The maximum shutter speed is still at 1/4000 which is more than enough to capture even the fastest movements.
One caveat is that the battery life of the Sony A6500 is actually worse than the A6300 as it only has 310 shots compared to the 350 from the latter, CNET reported. It seems that the additional features and power came at the price of the battery life as it did not get upgraded at all.
Sony's A6500 mirrorless camera can still capture 4K video and still has pretty much the same capabilities of the A6300 launched in March. The company is still competing with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II mirrorless camera which is just one of the many models available in the growing market for such cameras.
Sony A6500 Release Date and Price
The Sony A6500 will be available in the United States starting in November for $1400 just for the body alone. A global launch has not been announced yet but it could be released internationally after several weeks of its launch in the U.S. considering the demand for mirrorless cameras across the globe.
