Two multiplayer maps would be part of the first set of DLC for “Gears of War 4” that would be released on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The first batch of release are Checkout and Drydock, two of the most popular “Gears of War” Legacy Maps.
According to The Coalition and Microsoft, the DLC is the first month of free monthly map updates set for release over the next 12 months. The two maps would also be available in Versus Multiplayer and Horde Mode, Dualshockers reported.
The two are two fan-favorite maps returning from “Gears of War 3” that are the first post-release multiplayer add-on for “Gears of War 4,” according to Liam Ashley, community manager of developer The Coalition, Polygon reported.
Season Pass holders ($49.99) would get the first crack at the map release as part of the Developer Playlist’s early access by Nov. 1. Public playlist would have the maps on Nov. 8 for non-season pass holders.
Drydock moves from a COG shipbuilding facility to a shipbreaking scrapyard on a Seran mudflat. It is a fan favorite which returns with a vengeance to “Gears of War 4” versus Multiplayer and Horde modes.
Checkout is the iconic supermarket in Hanover, hometown of Cole for 25 years after the events of “Gears of War 3” in the Legacy Map. Similar to the rest of Sera, nature reclaims whatever it could after the Locust War, but it did not slow down the fast, furious and frenetic combat which occurs between the electronics department and checkout lanes.
