LG Electronics was previously reported to be working on with the Android 7.0 Nougat for its G5 handsets. Now, the newest software update from the biggest search engine company is now rolling out over-the-air.
The LG G5 is the first device besides Google's Nexus handsets to receive the recently released Android 7.0 Nougat. The South Korean Tech Company has started the global roll out of Android 7.0 Nougat to its flagship G5 smartphones, starting with owners on its territory, ZDNet has learned.
The Korean LG G5 owners are expected to see a Nougat upgrade notification yesterday, while owners in the Americas, Asia, and other markets will have to wait for a few weeks after the completion of the usual carrier testing phase.
As the roll out of Android 7.0 Nougat for LG G5 begins, it made the South Korean tech giant the first Android smartphone maker besides Google to deliver the newest version of Android to a lot of device running on Marshmallow. It can also be remembered that LG's new V20 is also the first new phone aside from the Google's new Pixel handsets to run on Nougat OS. The Android 7.0 has showed up for the first time on Google's Android distribution chart following its release in October.
Google's Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to bring new features and enhancements to the LG G5 handsets. As a matter of fact, Tech Radar has reported some of the improvements the newest software offers. LG Electronics stated that it has modernized the user experience for speed and convenience. Searches, for example, happen across user-install apps, not just pre-installed ones. Also, brand new multi-window interface for switching between apps with a double tap is noticeable. This features also run the application side-by-side.
As the Android 7.0 Nougat is now rolling out for LG G5, it is then expected that other handsets from the South Korean smartphone maker will also obtain the software.
