Cyborg Superman may soon make his debut on "Supergirl" Season 2. A new synopsis for the Nov. 21 episode titled "The Darkest Place" indicates that the famous DC villain is heading to The CW shows. The question now is who's playing Cyborg Superman?
The real Superman (a.k.a Clark Kent a.k.a Kara's cousin) is currently in town and is portrayed by "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Hoechlin. The announcement of Cyborg Superman's participation on the show led fans to speculate that Hoechlin may also be the one to step into the shoes of the villain.
Fortunately, Andrew Kreisberg cleared things up in an interview with TVLine, stating that Hoechlin is not Cyborg Superman. This probably comes as no surprise to fans who've read the comics as Cyborg Superman is not at all related to Clark Kent. The alias has been adopted by two characters: NASA astronaut Hank Henshaw and Kara's dad Zor-El. Hank
Henshaw has been introduced on "Supergirl" Season 2 as J'on J'onzz a.k.a Martian Manhunter, which means it's also unlikely he'll take on the robot-like version of Superman.
Screen Crush speculates that there's a good chance Cyborg Superman may turn out to be Kara's adoptive father, Jeremiah Danvers, played by former Superman Dean Cain. The last time we heard from Jeremiah, he was held captive by Cadmus for an experiment. The experiments, it is being presumed, may have turned Jeremiah into Cyborg Superman.
Interestingly, the synopsis for "The Darkest Place" states that Supergirl is going on a solo mission to rescue Mo-El, who has been taken by Cadmus - the same organization that captured Jeremiah. In the process of freeing Mon-El, "Supergirl comes face to face with Cyborg Superman."
There may be other options to play Cyborg Superman. What's certain for now is that Hoechlin is not suiting up as the villain. In the meantime, Hoechlin has taken a break from the show as Clark, but Kreisberg expressed that he would love to have him back on the show. However, the show's main priority right now is to figure out what they're going to do for the rest of the season.
"Supergirl" Season 2 airs every Monday on The CW.
