Niall Horan recently made his American Music Awards red carpet debut as a solo artist. The musician also gave candid interviews where he talked about his upcoming solo album and meeting former One Direction band member Zayn Malik during the event.
The 2016 American Music Awards was a star-studded event that recognized some of Hollywood's promising musical acts and talented performers. Held in Los Angeles on Nov. 20, Sunday, Horan was one of the celebrities who performed during the event.
Horan's participation in the 2016 American Music Awards marked the singer's first time to appear as a solo artist in the said awards show. Previously, the musician attended the said event with his One Direction band members Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the show's red carpet event, Horan commented on how different it felt to attend the American Music Awards without his band members. When asked about reuniting with former One Direction member Malik during the show, he expressed his excitement in meeting the singer again. Horan stated, "I haven't spoken to him in a few months or whatever, and haven't seen him in a while, so I'm looking forward to seeing him."
Malik was one of the big winners during the 2016 American Music Awards having been awarded the New Artist of the Year honor. Meanwhile, Horan performed his solo track titled "This Town" during the event.
In other news, many fans are expecting Horan to release his solo album in the coming months. The One Direction singer shared in an interview with E!News that he already finished recording half of the full-length album.
With a planned track list of 11 to 12 songs, Horan is currently busy composing music for his upcoming solo album. The singer added, "It's a longer process than recording everything from scratch. All the music is live."
