Country music stars Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton were some of the winners at the recently held 2016 American Music Awards. The two musicians and "The Voice" coach nabbed three of the biggest awards during the said event.
The 2016 American Music Awards recognized some of the Hollywood music industry's promising musical talents, as well as famous artists. Held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, three of country music's best musicians brought home key awards namely Underwood, McGraw and Shelton.
Underwood brought home two awards namely Favorite Country Female Artist and Favorite Country Album for "Storyteller," according to Taste of Country. Meanwhile, "The Voice" coach Shelton was awarded Favorite Country Male Artist, beating country musicians Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett who were also nominated for the same award.
McGraw also picked up an important award for his track "Humble and King" that was recognized as the 2016 American Music Awards' Favorite Country Song. Other artists who were nominated for the same award included Florida Georgia Line for "H.O.L.Y." and Thomas Rhett's for the track "Die a Happy Man."
Other awardees during the said event included former One Direction member Zayn Malik as New Artist of the Year and Sting, who brought home an Award of Merit. Rihanna also nabbed several accolades in the Soul/R&B category such as Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Album for "Anti" and Favorite Song for "Work."
In other news, McGraw and 18-year-old daughter Maggie Elizabeth made a stunning pair as they appeared together at the 2016 American Music Awards. Wearing a moto jacket over a black figure-hugging top with a deep V-neckline and black pants, the singer's daughter rocked the event's red carpet as she posed alongside her famous father, according to Us Weekly.
