Ronda Rousey is dialed in on her return at UFC 207, avoiding media and seemingly focused on UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. “Rowdy” made headlines recently, walking out on media following the UFC 205 weigh-ins.
Rousey will be returning more than a year after losing at UFC 193 to Holly Holm. The year has been a tough one for the former women’s champion who hinted that her upcoming card may be one of her last.
The year saw a disturbing one for Rousey, something that included suicide considerations. While she did plan to take some time off after the Holly Holm fight, her Hollywood gigs didn’t exactly turn out for the best. Most were either put on delay or pulled.
As far as the media snub is concerned, Rousey explained most when she appeared on the Conan O’ Brien show. She said that there was no need for her to stir up some hype, pointing to the progress of the women’s division the past year, Sports Yahoo reported.
After her loss, the UFC women’s bantamweight division saw changes at the helm. After Holm, Miesha Tate and Nunes got their chance at the title. If the trend continues, could Rousey win back the title she lost last year?
Right now, Rousey is focused to give Amanda Nunes a tough night at UFC 207 which takes place on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. She has been spotted working hard with the intent of shaming doubters who have given up on her, TMZ reported.
With fewer distractions and a more focused Rousey, such could mean bad news for Nunes. Despite the preparations being done by Rousey, Nunes predicts a first-round knockout when the two vixens square off inside the Octagon.
After more than a year out of the UFC scene, Rousey’s conditioning is suspect compared to Nunes who has been active. His mental state is another one in question, meaning Rousey will have to do a lot to convince many and possibly reclaim that title she lost in shocking fashion in November 2015.
