Apple has not yet confirmed the existence of the iPad Mini 5 but fans are already speculating as to what it may offer. The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to unveil the new product alongside the iPad Pro 2 at their upcoming Spring 2017 event.
Loyal followers of Apple are a bit disappointed that the iPad Mini 5 was not revealed in 2016. The current iPad mini 4 was unveiled in 2015 and 2016 was supposed to be the year for the follow up. Unfortunately, Apple did not release anything or even just confirm that it is already in the works.
Apple could use a flexible display for the iPad mini 5 considering that they have already been granted several patents regarding the technology, Mac World UK reported. The concrete idea is that the tablet will fit into the pocket of its users because it can be folded when not in used, similar to how flip phones function several years back.
The screen of the new iPad could also support the 3D Touch technology. It would allow users to have more control over the user interface but it would most likely be more beneficial for the iPad Pro 2.
The iPad mini 5 will also reportedly use a Smart Connector that will allow users to connect keyboards and mice. There could also be a series of branded powered accessories from Apple similar to how they launched the AirPods for the iPhone 7 without the headphone jack.
Apple will reportedly release the iPad mini 5 in March 2017, T3 reported. The variants could start at 32GB considering that the company is moving to forget about 16GB models.
Fans will have to wait in early 2017 whether Apple will actually confirm the iPad mini 5 or even the iPad Pro 2. The specs and features will hopefully be revealed too.
