BIGBANG "Weekly Idol" episode will air in mid-January, but the group will film next week, a source from MBC Every1 confirmed.
It has been revealed that the whole group will make their first appearance in "Weekly Idol" after a discussion with Yang Hyun Suk. The discussion also concluded that the group will appear in three variety programs under MBC.
BIGBANG has filmed "Infinite Challenge" and "Radio Star". What is left is "Weekly Idol" and members G-Dragon, Taeyang, Top, Daesung, and Seungri will show their funny side in the variety show. It is unknown what are the segments prepared for the group but fans anticipate whether BIGBANG will do Random Play Dance or 2X Faster Dance, which are permanent segments in the show.
According to Soompi, a source revealed, "It's true that BIGBANG refrained from appearing on variety programs for a few years. However, it appears as though Yang Hyun Suk's thoughts have changed. He thought of fans who will not be able to see BIGBANG as a whole group for a while with T.O.P's military enlistment. He viewed variety show appearances as the answer to soothing sad fans and suggested it to the members. The member readily accepted and selected three programs to appear on after careful consideration."
In 2013, G-Dragon appeared on the show promoting his album Coup d'Etat. The two were close after being paired in the music festival of "Infinite Challenge". The two won the Couple Award at MBC Gayo Daejun because of their bromance. Other YG artists that have appeared in the show are Winner, BLACKPINK, and Sechskies.
BIGBANG recently held a comeback dropping a full album after eight years with title tracks "FXXK IT," "Last Dance," and "Girlfriend". The group achieved an all-kill on real time charts when they dropped the album on Dec. 12.
