Electronic Arts has officially rolled out the mobile game "WarFriends" to the Google Play Store. Android smartphone and tablet owners can finally play the new game which puts a twist for shooters.
"WarFriends" was first launched on Apple's iOS platform in April 2016. It received mostly positive reviews because of its unique take on a cover-based shooter. The game is also refreshing for most players looking for a different game in the sea of saturated titles in the App Store or the Play Store.
Instead of just shooting and moving like in the "Modern Combat" series of games, players are given covers to move to and from. "WarFriends" requires players to build decks of WarCards which allow the player to deploy different units against enemies in a match, Phone Arena has learned.
Instead of the usual clones in the Play Store, players can try out "WarFriends." It currently does not have identical mechanics found in most games such as "Clash of Clans" or "Flappy Bird" which spawned hundreds, if not thousands, of clones.
Players can move from cover to cover in order to survive in a match. They can use the WarCards to turn the tables against their opponent. "WarFriends" also includes customization options for players that can be bought through in-app purchases, Touch Arcade reported.
In order to win against other players, cards have to be planned out. Players should choose which to bring in a battle and which to leave out as to eliminate the useless WarCards.
"WarFriends" has several game modes that players can try out. They can battle friends and random opponents via 1v1 tactical combat battles. Players can also group through co-op or squad matches which put them against other teams in the game.
Google Play Store now has "WarFriends" which is free to download but there are in-app purchases available. It is also available in the iOS App Store.
