James Cameron's 2009 blockbuster - "Avatar" has been known to be graced with a follow up scheduled for a 2018 release. Now that it has been almost 8 years since it was released, very little has been spilled about its sequel and fans are pondering what Cameron's imagination has come up this time for the film's installment.
The director-producer has veered quite a bit from being behind the camera, though he made some side projects in the past. This did not hamper Cameron in pushing through with "Avatar 2" as it is expected to commence production this 2017. Unless something major happens, filming will go as planned and here are some of what can be expected from "Avatar 2."
Aside from it being a big-budgeted cinematic project and the expected directorial guidance of Cameron, the director plans on taking moviegoers to Pandora's uncharted vast oceans. The first film has already showcased the planet's rich terrain and its equally breathtaking sky and it would be very fitting to feature Pandora's underwater landscape on its next installment.
"Avatar 2," will be one of the scheduled four sequels of the film series. What made it even more amazing is the acclaimed director will be directing all four films simultaneously. By the time "Avatar 2" hits the big screen in 2018, Cameron intends on releasing the succeeding sequels in 2020, 2022, and 2023 provided that everything goes smoothly with its production.
Cameron will push the limits of film viewing as he plans on applying technological advancements in the "Avatar' sequel. In a statement gathered by MovieWeb, the director stated that he is very upbeat about 3D. He added that they need "brighter projection" making the film viewable on that setting even without 3D glasses.
Dr. Grace Augustine, played by "Alien" star Sigourney Weaver will be back for the movie follow-up. Albeit the fact that her character died in the first film, both Weaver and Cameron confirmed that Grace will be back, though it is unclear on how will it happen.
Weaver spoke with Variety back in December 2016 and was asked about the current low down of the film. She spilled that she had already read three scripts of the film and went on saying that it is several times more amazing than the first film in terms of its extent.
Meanwhile, if rumors about the film's release are anything to go by, it is believed that "Avatar 2" will be out in December 2018 pitting against "Star Wars Episode VIII." Here are a couple of clips featuring Cameron and Weaver talking about "Avatar 2:"
