"Despicable Me 3" will seemingly take its audience back to the 1980s era. As revealed in its freshly released trailer, the third movie of the hit franchise will introduce a new character, along with Gru, the villain turned hero of this saga and his new wife Lucy.
Unsurprisingly, the highly-anticipated movie features the return of Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig, who are reprising their respective roles as Gru and Lucy. The movie is set to release on June 30.
"Despicable Me 3" trailer shows the arrival of the new villain in a purple jumpsuit while rocking a full on quaff. He moonwalks across the ocean with Michael Jackson's music playing in the background. Armed with a destructive bubble gum to execute his plans to dominate the world, the character gets into serious sibling rivalry when he meets his long-lost twin brother, Gru, Den of Geek has learned.
Also shown in the trailer is a new character named Balthazar Bratt, who is actually a child prodigy who has turned into a supervillain as a result of the abrupt cancelation of his TV series when he hit puberty. Lending his voice to the supervillain is Trey Parker, co-creator and frequent vocal talent of "South Park," USA Today reported.
When Gru finally catches up to Bratt for a battle turned dance fight, it seems to be a perfect comedic perfection that is further enhanced by minions cracking up at the end of the video. While Miranda Cosgrove returns as Margo, Gru and Lucy's oldest adopted daughter, Dana Gaier and Russell Brand are also back. However, Nev Scharrel replaces Elsie Fisher as young Agnes.
The newly released trailer in itself is a laugh riot as Gru and Lucy are seen naming themselves Grucy while the former succumbing to the devastating pink gum, in which he is seen being stripped naked. The first two "Despicable Me" movies and "Minions" have combined gross earning of $2.5 billion worldwide.
