Singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha who penned the Eminem and Rihanna's 2013 hit "The Monster" recently revealed she had to give the song away since at that time she had no record deal and money. Furthermore, record labels rejected the song when she sang it to them.
"Nobody is ever going to want to listen to that," Rexha told The Sun. "'That sounds like a flop to us.' Literally, I had someone tell me that. So, I think at that time I had no choice but to give the song away."
The blonde beauty added she had to pass her creative piece to music artists where it could potentially succeed. Being young at that time, she likewise admitted having a bit of selfishness and was adamant to have her voice featured on the track.
"The Monster" became a big success and opened doors for Rexha who added she is willing to work with Eminem or Rihanna. The budding singer sees the pair as "both very real in their music." She also admitted she never spoke with the 44-year-old rapper, not even once.
Aside from "The Monster," Rexha also wrote other songs for popular artists, according to Billboard. These include "Like a Champion" by Selena Gomez, "Team" by Iggy Azalea, "Glowing" by Nikki Williams, "Under You" by Nick Jonas, "All Hands on Deck" by Tinashe and "One More Night" by Bella Thorne.
The 27-year-old Brooklyn-born singer is now tipped as among the biggest new stars this year. She has landed on the Top 10 hit in less than a year, courtesy of her and Martin Garrix song "In the Name of Love." She likewise worked with Nicki Minaj on her track "No Broken Hearts" and was the host of the MTV European Music Awards.
The song "I Got You" from Rexha's debut album "All Your Fault: Pt. 1" released on Feb. 17, 2016 was co-written by her and produced by Captain Cuts. It is seen as another musical piece containing her vocal quality.
