"Stardew Valley" is getting a physical release for the Xbox One and PS4. The physical release will be handled by 505 Games, in collaboration with the original developer ConcernedApe and the digital publisher, Chucklefish Games.
The physical Collector's Edition will cost $29.99 in the US, Polygon reported. In comparison, the digital version of the game currently costs $14.99. However, the physical Collector's Edition will come with more than just the standard game.
Included in the physical Collector's Edition is the base game, a condensed mini version of Kari Fry's "Stardew Valley" Guide Book and a foldout map of Pelican Town. This edition will also give players a special code that will allow them to download the game's official soundtrack, Dual Shockers reported.
505 Games have yet to announce if there will be a standard edition for the physical retail version of "Stardew Valley." A standard edition, without all the additions such as the map or soundtrack, is expected to be given a lower price.
"Stardew Valley" originally released for Windows PC in February 2016. Digital release ports were then launched for Mac OS, Linux, PS4 and the Xbox One throughout the year. A Nintendo Switch port is also in development.
A port for the Nintendo Wii U was in development for some time but this was cancelled in favor of the Switch port. It is still uncertain if there will be future ports for handheld devices like the PS Vita and the Nintendo 3DS.
The game is heavily inspired by the "Harvest Moon" series and is also designed as a farming simulator. It also emphasizes on socializing with Pelican Town residents and other activities such as mining, fishing and improving the player's home.
"Stardew Valley" physical Collector's Edition will launch in the US on April 11. It will release in Europe by April 13. The official trailer for the physical retail version can be viewed below:
