After capping the lid off last December 2016 at the PlayStation Experience, Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us 2" has been one of the most anticipated titles. Details about the game are understandably difficult to come by especially its release date. However, its director - may have already hinted a few of these in plain sight.
The announcement teaser has made it known that both of the game's main characters - Joel and Ellie are confirmed to reprise their parts in the sequel. Nevertheless, discerning faithfuls might have deciphered a hidden message on what Ellie is singing in the reveal trailer.
Listening carefully to the song, Ellie sings Shawn James' "Through the Valley" that was inspired by the Bible's Book of Psalms chapter 23. The lyrics were taken from its fourth verse, though James' rendition was a bit modernized to some parts.
Hence, putting those digits on a date format, this reads April 23 which could be a plausible release date for "TLoU 2," according to The Wolf Hall. Moreover, the publication added that the game could be hitting the shelves in 2019 considering it being a highly decorated AAA title.
Meanwhile, other game buffs believe that the title could be out in 2018 if rumors are anything to go by. However, fans should be taking these with pinches of salt as Druckmann promised to dish out bits of information about the sequel in the coming months.
Another part of the song where it says, "I can't walk on the path of the right 'cause I'm wrong" may provide a hint of what is in store for fans once the game is out. In one of his tweets last January, Druckmann talked about the ending of the first game was influenced by his "personal politics." Hence, it is very much likely that such politics will be exhibited in the next game as "TLoU 2" will let players take control of Ellie.
No can do. Writers work off of their views of the world. For example, the ending of TLoU is very much inspired by my "personal politics." https://t.co/nuhF318yxj

In a statement obtained by Videogames Republic, Druckmann revealed that they almost devised alternate characters for the sequel as voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson were not around during that period. Druckmann added that he and fellow director Bruce Straley thought of changing the game series with either a sci-fi or a fantasy feel into it. He went on saying that they were even developing prototypes for those pitched in ideas.
Luckily, the above-mentioned voice actors were back to reprise their roles as it is very much evident in the teaser. After such reveal, both Naughty Dog and Druckmann remained mum about the game's current low-down not even a ballpark figure of its release.
