A new Xiaomi smartphone has appeared on the database of China's telecom regulatory body, TENAA. Rumors have it that it may be the Xiaomi Redmi 5. The listing has revealed the specifications and images of the alleged Redmi 5 phone.
According to its listing on TENAA, the mysterious Redmi 5 is a model number of MAE136 and it features a 5-inch device. The resolution of the display has not been revealed. Since the Redmi 4 came with support for full HD resolution, the mysterious Redmi device is also expected to carry support for same resolution.
TENAA's listing for the device has not revealed any information on the chipset and RAM of the device. However, the images of the alleged Redmi 5 have revealed that it has a unique design along with antenna bands. The handset also features a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. It includes a 4,000 mAh battery. The mysterious Redmi 5 measures 139.24 x 69.94 x 8.65 mm, Xiaomi Today reported.
The Redmi 4 was launched in China in November 2016. However, it is yet to arrive in markets outside of China. Even though the rumor mill is claiming it to be the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5, there are some rumors have that it will be coming with an improved edition of Redmi 4.
The design of the smartphone appears similar to the Redmi 4. Just as Xiaomi released an enhanced edition of Redmi Note 4 as Note 4X, speculations are hinting that this mysterious Redmi smartphone may arrive as Redmi 4X.
The Redmi Note 4X comes with a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The device is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It includes a 4,100 mAh battery. It is available with a pricing of 999 Yuan ($145).
As of this writing, there is no confirmation on when the Redmi 5 will be unveiled. As Redmi 4 was unveiled in November last year, the Redmi 5 is rumored to launch in the last quarter of 2017.
