Xiaomi is already planning the Mi Mix 2 despite recently releasing the first iteration. The smartphone will also have a screen that covers most of the front end of the device just like its predecessor.

Leio Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi, posted on Chinese social network Weibo as cited by Digit that he has already talked with the Mi Mix designer Phillipe Starcke regarding the follow-up for the device. He added that they discused the possibilities for the next device with regards to how it will look like.

With new smartphones today having larger screens compared to before, it is no surprise that the innovation may take place at the displays. Apple is already reportedly developing the new iPhone 8 with OLED panels while Samsung is setting the curved edge screen style for its new Galaxy S8 and future smartphones.

Xiaomi just released the Mi Mix in December 2016 and it immediately got attention because of its huge 6.4-inch display with a screen to body ratio of 91.3 percent. The only thing that could have been improved is its 1980 x 1080 pixel resolution which should have been bumped up to 1440p.

One unique feature was Elliptic Labs' ultrasound technology which was used in the Xiaomi Mi Mix instead of the proximity sensor during phone calls, Digital Trends reported. It may also reappear in the Mi Mix 2 which is expected to be released sometime in Q4 this year at the earliest.

Specs are expected to be upgraded too considering that it will be the second model. Unfortunately, there is no other confirmation of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 specs and features yet but they are expected to be revealed in the following months.

Xiaomi's Mi Mix is still available in online stores across the globe. The Mi Mix 2 may have more or less the same price depending on the improvements.
