"Furious 7" marks the last film of the late Paul Walker as it features Jason Statham playing the villain character Deckard Shaw opposite Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel, who are among those who played the protagonists.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Statham was asked about working with The Rock and Diesel in "Furious 7."
Statham started by saying, "The Rock is the Rock, you know?"
For Statham, The Roch is "the ultimate athlete, the professional man with precision," "a 270-pound living, walking brick wall," "a monster" and "a humble sort of chap" who does not have an ego.
On the other hand, Statham described Diesel as "another great athlete" who has a cool character.
"He loves what he does," Statham said of Diesel. "He's the centerforce for the success of this whole thing."
According to Statham, his "Furious 7" villain character was "sort of a work in progress."
"Do I want to be the scumbag villain who's out to blow up the world and steal everybody's cash? No," Statham said. "The Bond Villain wasn't on the menu. I wanted it to be vengeful. It was much cooler, much more precise. And it's a great parallel."
According to Statham, he and his "Furious 7" villain role are the same in a sense that they are both "all about family."
Since he usually plays the good guy, Statham said playing the hero is great as it gives him all the good stuff and he is in it all the way through. On the other hand, he finds playing the villain "a bit of an easier ride" because he just needs to "turn up" and "rustle feathers" as he is not in it for the whole duration.
The $135 million-$138 million weekend debut of "Furious 7" is the largest opening in North America since fall 2013, according to CNN.
