Kendrick Lamar, Los Angeles rapper and "To Pimp A Butterfly" singer, finally opened up and disclosed his feelings with regard to his battle with depression.
The 27-year-old singer-rapper talked about his struggles and suicidal thoughts in an interview with MTV. He explained that his song "u" was all about his inner demons and his fight against depression. He mentioned about his combat with survivor's guilt as well.
The small part of the lyrics of the song goes like this: "I know your secrets... I know depression is restin' on your heart for two reasons... And if this bottle could talk I cry myself to sleep."
The song "u" which is featured in his latest album this 2015 "To Pimp A Butterfly" tells about him talking about his personal secrets. It is also a reflection of his own dark thoughts from which he suffered during depression stage, Gossip Cop reported.
Lamar explained that most of the heartbreaking lyrics of the song are based on his personal experiences. The dark and angry track reflects his tough times in life.Lamar's 2012 album entitled "Good Kid M.A.A.D City" made him a phenomenal star when it was released.
"Nothing was as vulnerable as that record. So it's even pulling from those experiences of coming up in Compton. It's pulling from the experience of going through change and accepting change - that's the hardest thing for man, accepting change," disclosed Lamar, Nat monitor reported.
Lamar is currently engaged to Whitney Alford, his long-time girlfriend, who together with his friends is being very supportive of him since he started with his rapping career.
