Sprint has began the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to LG G2 smartphones, Android Police reported. This rollout comes after mobile service providers AT&T and Verizon released the Lollipop update for owners of the LG G2 in the United States.
Once the installation is finished, the version number of the smartphone will be changed from ZVE to ZVG. The Android update will bring a number of enhancements and features. It will include Google's Material Design enhancements, improved lock screen, updated FM Radio software, floating action button, "OK Google" voice command, a new priority notifications mode and convenient Smart Lock security feature.
Sprint LG G2 users can check if their devices are ready to install the update by going to Settings and accessing the About Phone page. If the update is ready, it will be shown upon choosing the option for Software update.
It is recommended that users should connect their smartphones to a stable Wi-Fi connection and charge up their device prior to starting the upgrade.
However, the Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout will not be instantaneous to all Sprint LG G2 owners. The Lollipop update can take several days to rollout to LG G2 Sprint owner's specific devices, Android Central noted.
The mobile service provider Sprint is the last of the four leading carriers in the US to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its LG G2 devices. T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T have earlier released the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to their LG G2 smartphones under their networks.
