Vin Diesel is the only confirmed member of the "Furious 8" cast. There are still no details whether or not there is a possibility for the Asian "Furious 7" actors Sung Kang, Tony Jaa and Ali Fazal to reprise their roles Han Seoul-Oh, Kiet and Zafar respectively.
"Furious 7" served as the Hollywood debut of Jaa, a Thai martial arts actor, and Fazal, the Bollywood star internationally known for the film "3 Idiots."
Recently, Jaa accepted a challenge from Yahoo to display his best takedown moves on cardboard cutouts of Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Fabio, and Humphrey Bogart.
In "Furious 7," Jaa played Kiet, a member of Jakande's team who possesses great agility, athleticism and fighting prowess, while Fazal played Zafar, a friend of Megan Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) to whom she sent the God's Eye for safekeeping.
As for Kang, he was born in Gainesville, Ga., and he made his Hollywood debut in the 1999 action comedy "Mystery Men" although he had his first major role in 2002 crime drama film "Better Luck Tomorrow," which was directed by "Fast and Furious 6" director Justin Lin.
In "Furious 7," Kang appeared as Han Seoul-Oh in archive footage from "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."
Han Seoul-Oh is the only "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" character to appear in subsequent films. It will then be interesting to see the character appear in "Furious 8" in any twist the writers may come up with considering that he was already killed by Ian Shaw (Jason Statham).
Meanwhile, Arclight Films recently picked up international rights to the film "Pali Road," which stars Kang opposite "Twilight Saga" actor Jackson Rathbone and "Lost" actor Henry Ian Cusick, Variety reported.
