Users of older generation iPhones will be pleased to know that the upcoming iOS 9 will be optimized to support these legacy devices. The new iOS, codenamed "Monarch," will focus more on performance and stability enhancements rather than additional features.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple is working to address the reported sluggishness and performance issues reported by users of older iPhone devices running the latest iOS operating system.
While Apple is known for integrating quality by limiting added features every time it releases an update for its operating system, the company is taking a big step in supporting its legacy devices by optimizing the upcoming iOS 9 to support older hardware. This will prove to be a critical move for Apple, a company known for prioritizing newer models than optimizing its system to support older ones.
To provide additional protection from hackers, iOS 9 will receive a major security upgrade. According to PCMag, iOS 9 will have a brand new security feature called Rootless. This new feature will disallow users, even with administrative rights, to access sensitive files on Apple devices.
Aside from added protection from malware infestation, this new security feature will no doubt affect the iPhone jailbreaking community as well. Rumors has it that Apple also plans to transfer a significant number of its app into the iCloud Drive. If these rumors are true, this will provide an added layer of encryption especially when users are using unfamiliar Wi-Fi connections.
More information about the upcoming iOS 9 will be released during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference which will open on June 8.
