Huawei P8 Lite, the mid-range version of the company's flagship smartphone, was recently unveiled on the United States market. At $249.99, the mid-range phone surprises tech enthusiasts with its above-average specs and good value.
According to Modern Readers, tech reporters at the New York launch event on Tuesday were able to use the P8 Lite, Huawei's mid-range phone, and gave it generally "solid" reviews. It is the latest Chinese smartphone trying to gain a market share in the U.S., reports said.
Huawei P8 Lite's basic features include a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution, 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, internal memory of 16 GB with expandable memory, 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.
In addition, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat bundled with the basic Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 support and dual-sim support. Its battery is a 2,200 mAh that is permanently installed in the handset. In terms of body design, P8 Lite is slim at 7.7 mm thickness while its screen is enclosed in Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Tech fans note that all in all, its design mirrors that of its high-end cousins (P8 and P8 Max), minus the aluminum bodies as the P8 Lite is made of plastic. Despite this, it sports a sleek metallic design, Tech Times said.
Comparing these with Huawei P8's features, including a 2GHz octa-core Kirin 920 processor, 3GB RAM with similar internal memory, 1080p display and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS, the lighter version indeed packs lighter features. However, considering its price, P8 Lite seems to carry a lot of value, Modern Readers suggested.
Huawei P8 Lite is now available on its website, GetHuawei.com, and in Amazon, which will also handle its service functions. Other stores carrying the phone are Target, Fry's Electronics and B&H stores.
