The much-awaited iPad Pro release date is speculated to happen in October as Apple is reportedly lining up suppliers for the display panels.
The Cupertino-based company is said to have chosen Sharp and Samsung for manufacturing the 12.9-inch displays for the upcoming device, well in time for a launch later this year, G for Games reported citing a Taiwanese report.
The report quoted inside sources saying that Sharp will be the primary manufacturer, will start providing the display panels of 12.9-inches in September, exclusively for the first set of iPad Pro tablets. Samsung has successfully sent in a small batch of displays for a test batch to secure the second position.
This falls in line with the previous reports that pointed to a 12.9-inch screen and a late Q3 or early Q4 iPad Pro release date, possibly the Apple's iPad event held in October.
Besides the two suppliers, LG is reportedly in consideration as a tertiary supplier, if required.
The long rumored iPad Pro specifications include the powerful A9 chipset, Force Touch display, a larger USB Type-C port, Bluetooth stylus. The device is expected to sport a display with 2732 x 2048 resolution and a pixel density similar to iPad Air 2, as per Ubergizmo.
The upcoming iPad will come with split-screen feature and multi-user log in, and will allegedly run on iOS9 as well as OS X EI Captain, suggesting a hybrid device in the cards. This lends some weight to rumors that the iPad Pro is Apple's effort to take on the Microsoft's Surface tablet range.
However, these reports related to iPad Pro release date and features should be taken with a pinch of salt, as Apple is yet to officially confirm the very existence of the device.
