Taipei’s mandopop singer Jay Chou welcomed his first child with wife Hannah Quinlivan, according to Taiwanese media.
An agent close to the couple confirmed the news on Monday, revealing that the 21-year-old Quinlivan gave birth to a baby girl.
Chou did not confirm the exact date of his baby’s arrival, but the couple’s family and friends said that the birthdate was July 10, in the middle of Typhoon Chan-hom’s passing in Taiwan.
Chou’s agency said that the model-actress gave birth via Caesarian section. Although it was a CS-section, a report confirmed that it was an arranged Caesarian and not a premature birth.
Contrary to rumors that he’s secretive about the birth, the 36-year-old singer said through his manager: “We had a daughter. Hannah and I are very happy."
Rumors started when Chou’s long-time manager J.R. Yang, living in the same neighborhood as him, reportedly did not know about the birth.
The source said that the singer promised to give more details about the birth when the time is right.
On the other hand, Quinlivan’s management agency said that they will allow Chou’s management to handle this matter.
It was November last year when Chou blurted out his relationship with Quinlivan, sharing their photos together.
The couple tied the knot in a circus-themed wedding in Selby Abbey in the United Kingdom.
As what the singer promised, Chou married Quinlivan on his 36th birthday. The ceremony took place one day before his birthday on Jan. 17.
The two started dating since 2010, but they first met each other in 2007. The 14-year-old Quinlivan worked as Chou’s clothing store assistant by then.
