The latest "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 spoilers revealed that Amy's (Mayim Bialik) backstory will be the focus of the coming episodes. In the season 8 finale, many fans were surprised when Sheldon (Jim Parsons) took out what seemed to be an engagement ring after he received a break up call from Amy.
It was hinted that Sheldon and Amy will get back together and eventually take their relationship to the next level. According to Christian Today, before fans of "The Big Bang Theory" find out if Sheldon truly intended to propose to Amy, the early episodes of season 9 will first focus on Amy's life prior to meeting Sheldon.
Series writer Eric Kaplan said that they may bring in some of Amy's family members to give fans a better understanding of her character.
In past episodes, Amy hinted that she had a very lonely childhood. She told Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) that she did not have that many friends growing up. She also mentioned that she was never invited to any sleepovers.
When Amy first met Sheldon, the couple had an agreement that they will only stay together to fool the former's parents. The two eventually developed feelings for each other which led to Sheldon drafting the relationship agreement.
Since then, fans of the "The Big Bang Theory" saw Amy fall deeper in love with Sheldon. Sheldon, however, seemed to be hesitant to move the relationship forward. According to Business Insider, Sheldon's true intentions will finally be explored come season 9. It was said that the story behind his proposal will be revealed, as well as the real reason why Amy decided to end their relationship abruptly.
