"The Flash" season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 6 with three major supporting characters. At least three villains namely Zoom, Atom Smasher and Double Down are set to join Captain Cold against Barry Allen/Flash (Grant Gustin).
Zoom is said to be the major villain of "The Flash" season 2, according to Comic Book. A former ally of Hunter Zolomon, the new villain is a speedster who is even faster than the Reverse Flash and the Flash. What made Hunter Zolomon as fast as the Flash in effect is his ability to alter time, which he gained after tampering with the Cosmic Treadmill.
On the other hand, Atom Smasher is a size-changing hero in the comics while Double Down is a villain who can transform his skin into razor sharp tattoos.
It is yet to be revealed who will play Zoom, Atom Smasher and Double Down in "The Flash" season 2. It is also likely that more villains will be added in "The Flash" season 2 aside from these three.
Meanwhile, a new clip from the Digital HD release of the show's first season published by Yahoo! News shows Gustin's screen test as Barry Allen/Flash. In the clip, "Arrow" executive producer Greg Berlanti said the actor neither resembled the comic-book version of Barry Allen nor was in the right age to lay the character.
On the other hand, Berlanti pointed out that Gustin had "the heart and Grant had acting chops to carry this role." In the actor's screen test footage, the actor reads lines from a scene in the pilot exclaiming, "This morning, I broke the sound barrier!"
