Hardware specs, published on Monday by HelloMotoHK, indicate that the upcoming 2015 Moto X would likely still sport a 1080p screen. While it would be smaller than the display of the Nexus 6 of Motorola and Galaxy Note of Samsung, paired with a speculated 3,600mAh battery, owners of the new smartphone could enjoy whole day use of the unit without charging the phone.

Android Authority agrees with the rumored decision of Motorola to stick to 1080p as it points out that "an exemplary screen doesn't need an amazingly high resolution." The website stressed that 1080p screens would still be very crisp for 5.5-inch displays because what really matters are other factors such as color reproduction, brightness and contrast, and of course, battery life.

Motorola's choice of using the Snapdragon 808 processor of Qualcomm to run the third-generation Moto X - according to the leak - is also a wise option, according to The Verge, because the 808 is not as juice-hungry as the Snapdragon 810.

Other specs for the new handset, according to HelloMotoHK, are support for microSD cards, 21-megapixel sensor for the 5-megapixel front-facing camera which would fall short of standards for 2015 Android flagships set at 10 megapixels by Samsung and LG.

The 1080p display, at 5.5 inches, matches the screen size of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and LG G4, although the latter's screen is sharper with its 2560 x 1440 resolution. However, it would be bigger than the HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Motorola, which has invited media to an event, would likely roll out the Moto X on Tuesday in New York City and London.
