Although "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 was full of tragedy and drama, Shonda Rhimes said that season 12 will be fascinating because of the lighter feel attached to it.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will have Callie and Arizona embracing new personalities and the central concern is whether the two will ever be together again.
Talking to After Ellen, Rhimes said, "We're telling lighter stories this season. There's gonna be some really fun stuff going on."
Rhimes added, "There is always hope. I really think the way we guide the plot is we look and see what takes place. I mean, I do. I watch, I see what takes place, see how relationships shift, and that is what guides us."
According to Rhimes' statement in an interview with After Ellen, Callie and Arizona will be dating. Because Callie is bisexual, dating Arisona will continue the element of having lesbians on tteh show in tthe next season.
In other news, a different storyline that will emerge in season 12 focuses on Meredith recollecting herself after the tragic death of her husband, Dr. Derek Shepherd. Informing TV Line, Rhimes indicated that Meredith will concentrate on her relationships with Maggie and Amelia.
In season 11, it was unknown where Maggie lived but it will be revealed in season 12. Viewers will realize that Maggie lives with Amelia and Meredith in Ellis' house. Although there will be conflicts, this time the disagreements will be hilarious contrary to the sisters fighting. Similarly, Jackson and April's relationship will also be part of season 12 that is masked in mystery.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will debut on Sept. 24 on ABC.
