Even though the book "Winds of Winter" is not yet finished and the release date is still unknown, "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin regaled the fans with a sneak peek into a new chapter.
Martin was a part of the Spokane convention where he answered participated in a Q&A session with the fans. He also provided peek on the new chapter from the book, which was written from the perspective of Arianne Nymeros Martell, who is the Princess of Dorne.
Martell is the daughter of Prince Doran of Dorne and she is also the heiress of Sunspear. Her father Price Doran had intended to marry her off to Viserys Targaryen but instead she had an affair with the Kingsuard.
Martin refused to comment on the alleged release date of "Winds of Winter." He even added that he is fine if the series end before the entire book series can even be released. Even though this fact distressed him a lot, but he is now resigned to the fact that it is quite possible.
According to GeekWire, he half-heartedly admitted that, "The show is moving forward like a locomotive, or sometimes a jet locomotive. They're writing 60-page scripts, I'm writing 1,500-page novels. So who the hell knows? There was a period where I was worried about that, then I said, to hell with that. Worrying about it isn't going to change it one way or another."
In other news, Martin also confirmed that Stannis is alive in the sixth installment of the book. Even though Stannis is believed to have been killed off in the television series, Martin confirmed that the character is alive in the book series on his blog Not a Blog.
