Two Islamic State (IS) fighters who joined Jihadi John, or Mohammad Emwazi, in Mosul in 2014 shared on Saturday the beheader's biggest fear - the sound of drones.
The jihadist was aware that Coalition forces are after him since Emwazi is number 1 on the kill list of both the United States and Britain. While he is aggressive and rude, he has his soft side whenever he hears drones, according to Sunday Express's exclusive report.
The two once went on a nine-hour road trip with Emwazi and another jihadi, and Jihadi John insisted on one of them being a lookout for drones. When they saw one, Emwazi kept on talking about it, constantly reminding them, "There's drones in the air."
The other fighter, on their return journey, pulled out a gun and shot it in the air several times. On three occasions, they heard drones which Jihadi John thought were following them. During one sighting, Emwazi and other jihadists ran to a soccer field where civilians were playing since the players served as their human shield from drone attacks.
Jihadi John's fear are not without basis because the numbers 2 and 3 on the list, Reyaad Khan and Junaid Hussain, respectively, were both killed recently by drone attacks. With 2 and 3 out of the way, it is inevitable that the drones hit 1 soon.
British Prime Minister David Cameron already has Parliament's approval of the air strikes, but none yet to bomb Syria. The Economist notes that the PM's plan to extend the aerial campaign to Syria is complicated by the election on Saturday of Jeremy Corbyn as leader of Labour Party. Corbyn, who got 251 votes, has been linked to Islamic groups that favor the IS.
