Japanese airline company All Nippon Airways (ANA) recently unveiled the world's first ever "Star Wars" inspired commercial airplane. The airplane is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and its design is based on the "Star Wars" character R2-D2.
According to Business Insider, the plane is the first of three "Star Wars" inspire airplane that will begin its service later this fall. The airplanes are expected to cover international routes once they begin their service.
According to CNN, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner's livery and interior decorations were hugely inspired by the R2-D2 droid from the "Star Wars" movie franchise. All Nippon Airways said that the planes will service international flights from Tokyo and Vancouver.
The "Star Wars" inspired plane has a seating capacity of 215. It was unveiled at the Boeing Everett Factory located near Seattle. The plane's first scheduled flight is on Oct. 18.
All Nippon Airways signed a partnership with Disney as part of the latter's promotional stunt before the official release of the movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which is scheduled to hit movie theaters in December.
Passengers of the "Star Wars" inspired airplane can watch all the six previous "Star Wars" movies directly from their seats. This is the first time any of those "Star Wars" film were shown as an in-flight entertainment.
The second "Star Wars" plane is expected to be rolled out in November. It is a Boeing 757-300 and its design will be based on BB-8, a character from the new movie.
In March 2016, another R2-D2 inspired plane will be unveiled. This time it is a Boeing 777-300 ER and will cover international routes from North America and Japan.
