The Dallaw Cowboys have started off the season at 2-0, defeating division rivals in the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Each win however, came with losing one of their star players to injury.
In their heart-stopping win against the Giants, Dez Bryant suffered a major foot injury that will keep him out 4-6 weeks, according to some sources. They also suffered the loss of Randy Gregory, a rookie that would have helped the Cowboys with their defense.
In their victory against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is by the way, former Cowboy DeMarco Murray's new team, they suffered what many think is a death blow. Star quarterback Tony Romo broke his left clavicle. There is no official time table for when Romo will return, but the last time he suffered this injury in 2010, he missed 10 games in an abysmal 6-10 Cowboys Season.
Romo stated that he "felt it, it had a little bit of a pop to it. Obviously, I've felt it before. Your body goes into a little bit of shock and you just have to wait it out for a second to come back."
With this recent turn of events, the Dallas Cowboys must be the unhappiest 2-0 team this season. Introducing another player to replace Romo like FA Tom Brady or Robert Griffin III would take just too long for a team that has Superbowl hopes this season.
So, what now for the Cowboys? Should they just throw in the towel for this season?
Call me an optimist, but the Cowboys seem to have the ability to move forward with some confidence this season. The wins over the Giants and the Eagles show that the NFC East is weaker than it has been in the past couple years. All the Dallas Cowboys need to do is stay the cource until both Bryant and Romo return late in the season.
Led by backup quarterback Brandon Weeden, it seems as though the Cowboys can capitalize on this weak division.
Head coach Jason Garrett stated that "I have a lot of confidence in Brandon, and more importantly, his teammates have a lot of confidence in Brandon."
Furthermore, with the return of Sean Lee, and the alleged rumors the Randy Gregory will return within a short time frame, the Cowboys will have to play through their impressive defensive to stay alive this season, and they just might succeed yet.
