"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" host Jimmy Fallon chose the rightful heir to his show in "Jimpire," a parody of the famous hip-hop series "Empire." In addition, the talk show host worked with the original series' stars.
In the short clip, comedian Fallon spent the 10-minute segment to ponder on who will be the next heir after he injured his finger. According to People, the said injury was actually acquired by the show host in his apartment which also cancelled the taping of the late night show on Sept.18, Fri.
At the end of the video, the rightful heir was revealed as no other than presidentiable Donald Trump.
When Fallon was still on the search for his funnyman heir, he bumped into the real Luscious Lyon played by actor Terrence Howard and Cookie Lyon played by Taraji Henson inside the studio. In their memorable cameos, both actors expressed their displeasure about being parodied by Fallon.
During the first few minutes of the segment, Fallon called his fellow staff while he was clad in the same suit that Lyon was wearing in the series. Following his announcement, "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" announcer Steve Higgins and The Roots' drummer Questlove tried to persuade Fallon in his decision.
Emphasizing on his injured finger, the comedian explained that he might not be around forever with his condition at the moment. He asserted that anything could happen such as stubbing his toe or burning the roof of his mouth while eating a hot microwaved pizza; thus, he wanted to entrust his legacy to someone.
While the show maybe a parody, the series' opening scene seemed to be the real struggles of the famous talk show host during his childhood. According to TV Guide, Fallon's rose to fame was similar to that of Lyon's.
"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" is aired every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
