Rumors are doing the rounds that LG will skip the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and jump directly to Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. However, there is no official information from the company.
According to tech analysts, the Android Marshmallow update is not coming to LG G2, LG G3 and LG G4 this month, Venture Capital Post reported. However, it is scheduled to debut to some select mobile phones this month.
Users of LG phones will need to wait for December 2015 before the company releases the next Android update since it has just rolled out Android updates last August and early September. However, some mid-range devices have already got the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
The mobile carrier Verizon has already rolled out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the G Vista units. Also, Sprint and AT&T have rolled out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to the G Flex 2 units.
According to an Android Origin report, users of LG G2, LG G3 and LG G4 may get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. However, take this information with a grain of salt because LG has not officially announced when and if Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will roll out to these devices.
According to various reports, devices such as Nexus 6 (2015) aka Nexus 6P, Nexus 5 (2015) aka Nexus 5X, Sony Xperia M5, LG G4 Pro and HTC One A9 will get the Android Marshmallow update.
The Android Marshmallow update will bring USB Type-C support, fingerprint scanner, improved app permissions, custom Chrome tabs, app links and a new battery saver.
