Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 under AT&T subscribers will be receiving the latest Android Lollipop OS.
AT&T's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab is currently available via over-the-air (OTA) update. The said update brings into the device the latest bug fixes as well as improved performance.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware is expected to bring in some notable changes to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, including better Bluetooth and WiFi management, improved screen pinning, device stability and security enhancements, notifications, and better memory management, Android Police reported.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will also include battery life performance, and will take out some pre-installed apps once the tablet has been reset. A few apps will be installed, AT&T Messages, New YP VPL, and AT&T Messages VPL, Geek Snack reported.
AT&T is suggesting that one should use a WiFi connection before attempting to download the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is said to that the update will weigh in at 867MB, which is hefty, the reason why it needs a stable WiFi connection. Reportedly, the battery charge should also be at least 50 percent full to be able to complete the whole process.
Meanwhile, Android 6.0 is slated for release in January 2016, and users will not be able to update to the Marshmallow version without this Lollipop update. It is also estimated that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop build will be installed on all Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 before the year ends.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 users can manually check the availability of the update through accessing their device's "Check for Updates" through the pathway Menu, Settings, About Device, and Software Version.
