A leak has surfaced that hints at HTC smartphones listed by the company to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
Android OEMs other than Google's own Nexus handsets have been hard-put in getting the Android firmware updates out on time, so HTC has put a plan in place to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software package out in a timely manner, according to International Business Times.
A list of the company's smartphones to receive the updates was leaked on social media by @LlabTooFer, developer of Maximus HD ROM.
As previously speculated, the update will be attached to HTC's newest devices - the One M9 and its extra-sized sister the One M9+, which is expected to be released soon.
The HTC One M8, which came out in 2014, will also get the update soon but the 2013 flagship HTC One M7 does not seem to be so lucky as it is not on the list.
The leak goes on to confirm that the Desire series handsets will benefit from the update, including the Desire Eye and the Desires 816, 820, and 826.
The One ME, One E9+, Butterfly 2 and Butterfly 3 are all on the list.
One M8's siblings will also benefit, with minor configuration adjustments depending on where it is released. These include the One M8s, One M8 Eye and the plastic E8.
Two of the Desire's places in the list are singled out by the source, however.
Apparently devices that will not get the upgrades are those with a small internal storage capacity, and this puts the Desire 816's place in the list in the grey as it has a limited memory.
The other Desire in question is the 820 as it is still waiting for the Android Lollipop firmware upgrade.
The source also hinted that the update will be bundled with HTC's Sense 7 user interface.
