It has been reported that "Hotel Transylvania 3" is going to happen.
According to The Wrap, the "Hotel Transylvania" animated film franchise is set to have its third installment; however, director Genndy Tartakovsky will not be on the director's seat. In his interview with the publication, Tartakovsky said that two films were enough. The filmmaker added that he had a lot of other ideas and he would like to actualize such concepts.
Earlier this year, Tartakovsky revealed that he was dropping the project due to creative differences with Sony Pictures Animation, according to Cinema Blend. It is assumed that the director has the freedom to part ways from the studio now that "Hotel Transylvania 2" has been released.
Released on Sept. 25, "Hotel Transylvania 2" has made an estimated domestic gross of $50.8 million and an estimated foreign gross of $29.2 million, for an estimated total gross of $80 million.
"Hotel Transylvania 3" is the sequel to "Hotel Transylvania 2," which follows Tartakovsky's "Hotel Transyvlvania." "Hotel Transylvania 2" follows Dracula and his friends as they try to bring out the monster in his half-vampire half-human grandson to keep his daughter Mavis from leaving the titular hotel.
With Tartakovsky in the director's seat, "Pixels" actor Adam Sandler and "Louie" writer Robert Smigel wrote the "Hotel Transylvania 2's" screenplay. Meanwhile, Allen Covert, Skyle Lyons, Michelle Murdocca, and Ben Waisbren produced the franchise's second installment.
"Hotel Transylvania 2" features the voices of Jonny Solomon, Mel Brooks, Nick Offerman, Molly Shannon, Fran Drescher, Keegan-Michael Key, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, and Sandler.
Directed by Tartakovsky, "Hotel Transylvania 2" is now showing in theaters.
