TiVo recently unveiled the new Both DVR that supports 4K resolution and packs features like the ability to skip commercials.
The new TiVo Bolt DVR features an arc-shaped design which many analysts consider as very futuristic. The box will be available in white color only and its minimalistic design only sports the TiVo logo.
The new TiVo Bolt has a feature called Skip Mode, which allows users to skip commercial one at a time or the entire block. The new TiVo also has a feature called Quick Mode. In this mode, users can play their recorded TV shows up to 30 percent faster without any discernable audio synching issues.
The new TiVo model also supports universal search capability and multiple sources like cable, over the air antenna broadcasts, video on demand and even online video streaming. The box can also record up to four shows simultaneously. The Bolt DVR has an HDMI 2.0 output and will be the first TiVo device to support 4K video contents.
According to Consumer Reports, the Skip Mode of the TiVo Bolt will only work with recorded programs from a specific list of networks. The company has yet to reveal the list but it claims that the list includes the top 20 most watch networks. According to Engadget, the Skip Mode is not supported on sports programs.
The new TiVo Bolt will be released in stores on Oct. 4. The DVR is currently available online at Amazon, Best Buy and the TiVo online store. It comes in two storage variants; 500GB which costs $300 and 1TB which costs $400. The two models include one year TiVo service.
