British mobile network operator and Internet service provider EE recently unveiled the first wearable 4G streaming camera. Dubbed as the 4GEE Capture Cam, the tiny camera comes with a clip that makes it easy for users to clip into a shirt or backpack.
The Capture Cam features a square design and measures 55mm on either side. Inside it is an 8-megapixel sensor that is capable of taking photographs and videos 1080p resolution with 30 frames per second refresh rate. The camera also run on EE's fast mobile network and can livestream videos at 720p resolution with 30 frames per second refresh rate.
Livestreaming is through EE's 4G network. However, the livestream feature is tied with EE's own Skeegle app. This limits the livestream capabilities of the camera especially for those who use Meerkat, Periscope or YouTube.
The Capture Cam has an app that runs on both iOS and Android platforms. The app let users control the camera remotely. It also allows users to manage and download files, check data usage and purchase data bundles. According to Engadget, this feature is important for storage management given that the EE Capture Cam only has 4GB of local storage space. The camera has a microSD slot that supports up to 64GB memory cards for storage expansion.
According to Irish Examiner, EE has yet to confirm the official launch date of the Capture Cam as well as its official price. Although, the company has hinted that it should hit the stores "before Christmas 2015." This makes the Capture Cam an ideal holiday present.
